Boston Wedding Photography: Jewish Traditions & Skyline Views
Perched high above downtown Boston on the 33rd floor of an iconic skyscraper, the State Room offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Boston skyline and harbor through its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Located in the heart of the Financial District, its clean, contemporary design provides a sophisticated blank canvas for couples to bring their unique wedding vision to life.
For Matt and Michele, that vision was a gorgeous, garden-inspired celebration filled with sunny yellow florals and hints of blue—a vibrant palette that beautifully complemented the modern elegance of the space.
A Romantic First Look in Post Office Square
Matt and Michele began their wedding day with a romantic first look beneath the vine-covered pergola in Post Office Square. Surrounded by lush greenery and the charm of this downtown oasis, the moment provided the perfect backdrop for their first portraits as a married couple-to-be.
We continued with couple portraits on the central lawn before gathering the wedding party in front of the square's grand fountain. With their wedding taking place just one day after the Fourth of July, Boston was still proudly dressed in red, white, and blue, with enormous American flags draped dramatically from the city's historic columns.
From there, the wedding party strolled through the heart of historic Boston, passing iconic landmarks like the Old State House and Faneuil Hall on the way to The State Room. Once upstairs, everyone had a chance to soak in the spectacular views of the Custom House Tower and Boston Harbor before we wrapped up the family portraits and prepared for the ceremony.
A Beautiful Jewish Wedding Ceremony at The State Room
The celebration continued with the signing of the ketubah, the traditional Jewish marriage contract, before Matt and Michele gathered with their parents beneath the chuppah—the symbolic wedding canopy under which Jewish couples exchange their vows.
The floral design was truly spectacular. Elegant arrangements in shades of yellow and white brought warmth and romance to the contemporary setting, while cascading flowers along the balcony created a beautiful visual pathway toward the ceremony space. Every detail felt intentional, from the cheerful pops of color to the soft, romantic florals framing the couple as they prepared to say I do.
Against the sweeping Boston skyline, Matt and Michele's ceremony was a beautiful blend of meaningful Jewish wedding traditions, personal touches, and modern city elegance.
Of course, no wedding is complete without a few personal details that make everyone smile! Matt and Michele's three-tier wedding cake featured an adorable M&M Lego cake topper, a playful nod to the newlyweds that was every bit as memorable as the rest of the celebration.
And when it came time to party, these guests did not disappoint.
The dance floor stayed packed from Hava Nagila to the hora and all the way through the final songs of the night. The hora was every bit as lively as you'd hope, and just when we thought the energy couldn't get any higher, guests started showing off some seriously impressive breakdancing moves.
It was the kind of reception that reminds you why wedding photography is about so much more than beautiful portraits. It's about capturing the joy, the traditions, the unexpected moments, and the people who make a wedding unforgettable.
Matt and Michele's wedding at The State Room in Boston was a spectacular combination of vibrant florals, historic city scenery, meaningful Jewish traditions, and a whole lot of dancing. From their romantic first look in Post Office Square to the last moves on the dance floor, their day was a wonderful celebration of love, family, and fun.
