Rustic chic homegrown charm

Adventurous couple ties the knot harnessing their outdoorsy roots

Grace and Miles crafted a truly original wedding that celebrated their passion for exploration and ingenuity. Just to give you a sense of how this couple rolls, Miles proposed to Grace just as she crossed finish line of an Ironman triathlon, that's a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bicycle ride and full 26.6 marathon run. Since then they have renovated their house, raised their own chickens, started a construction business and also enjoy surfing and kite boarding in their spare time. Pretty impressive, right?

Bourne Farm was the ideal venue for this recreation-centric couple. The historic landmark is located on over 49 acres of fields, trails and woodlands overlooking Crocker Pond. The couple spent the spring growing their wedding flowers from seed. The cheerful and colorful arrangements consisted of dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, asters, yarrow and hydrangeas. They enlisted the help of their wedding party and close family members to assemble the bouquets on wedding day morning and Grace referred to it as one of the best activities of the weekend.

The ceremony was officiated by a family friend and their two rescue pups, Rose and Baxter, proudly stood at the alter with the wedding party. The flower girls wore pink dresses with hand-sewn sashes and tossed petals from wicker baskets. The bridal party wore mint green dresses, matching the groomsmens' neck ties. After the ceremony, the couple went on a walkabout through the back fields then meandered through a wildflower garden to the barn for the cocktail reception.

Their first dance was to Jack Johnson's "Better Together" and DJ Patrick from CapeTunes kept music blaring and the dance floor packed. The hilarious shenanigans from the groomsmen, which included 3 Best Men who refer to themselves as the "goon squad," continued throughout the evening with the appearance of the babydoll, Curtis, they "adopted" when they were in high school. It was truly heart-warming to seeing new and old friends come together to celebrate this milestone for such a wonderful couple. Congratulations, Miles and Grace!
