Two Hearts Blending a Lifetime of Traditions

From the moment I met Amar and Jordan, I was giddy with excitement over their elaborate wedding plans. This couple had a very clear vision of how they wanted their nuptials to be celebrated – thoughtful decor at every corner, vibrant colors and a blending of traditions from respective heritages. On their wedding day, when I arrived at Wellfleet Preservation Hall, I found the grooms hanging colorful umbrellas from the reception hall ceiling and stringing up hand-crafted paper banners, papel picado, with love birds presenting their names and wedding date in their clear top tent. Eventually they were shooed away by their loved ones (and vendors!) to go get ready. They wore custom linen suits in different shades of blue and with matching floral bow ties. Their intimate ceremony drew out laughs and tears while also incorporating traditions like the Jai Mala garland exchange and the El Lazo Mexican unity ritual.

Their ceremony concluded by inviting guests to toss flower petals at the newly wedded couple. Some of the younger ones were a bit too eager to do this! After processing out the ornate Preservation Hall doors, they both took a shot of tequila and then assembled a “Callejoneada,” which translates to a wedding parade of guests. Led by the grooms and musicians, the joyful crowd processed to the back lawn for cocktail hour. Guests delighted in their “Loteria” bingo/mixer game, which encouraged all guests to get to know each other. Their table decor was dazzling–festive pops of color in every direction. Each seat was adorned with a tote bag and each table setting paired with a tiny hand-painted wooden creature.

Guests danced the night away underneath ornate upside down umbrellas and disco balls. The grooms traded in their suits for their party shirts and revelry ensued as they threw down their incredible dance moves. Congratulations to these handsome grooms! Thank you for the privilege of capturing these glorious moments!
